What eDPI Means

eDPI means effective dots per inch. It combines hardware DPI and the game's numeric sensitivity into one convenient number.

For example, 800 DPI × 0.35 sensitivity equals 280 eDPI. Doubling DPI to 1600 while halving sensitivity to 0.175 keeps the same arithmetic eDPI.

The number is not a universal physical-distance measurement. Different games use different sensitivity scales, yaw values, field-of-view behavior, and input pipelines.

Accuracy, Edge Cases, and Comparison Limits

eDPI is useful when its boundaries are clear. Keep these three limits with every result.

Same game first

Compare eDPI directly inside the same game and sensitivity scale. Cross-game conversion needs game-specific yaw or a measured cm/360 workflow.

Verify the active DPI

Mouse software may have several DPI stages. Confirm the active stage and disable accidental DPI switching before recording a baseline.

Not a performance score

Higher or lower eDPI is not automatically better. Comfort, control, target size, desk space, and practice goals all matter.

Multiply mouse DPI by the numeric in-game sensitivity. For 800 DPI and 0.35 sensitivity, eDPI is 280.

There is no universal best eDPI. Compare settings within the same game, then choose a value that supports repeatable control without hand strain.

Not as a guaranteed one-to-one match. The formula is the same, but each game can use a different sensitivity scale and camera behavior. Use a game-specific converter or measured cm/360 for cross-game matching.

Divide your target eDPI by the new DPI. A target of 280 at 1600 DPI needs a decimal sensitivity of 0.175.

Percentage mode divides the entered number by 100 before multiplying by DPI. An 8% input becomes 0.08 for the formula.
